A city that is competing with Hong Kong and Singapore to become a global investment destination can’t afford to have an ill-equipped fire department. A global city is not made up of just fancy corporate offi ces. It must also have world class infrastructure which includes the fire department that plays a key role in keeping life, property and investments safe. The Telangana government should immediately refurbish the department so that it is not hamstrung by shortages while fi ghting a disaster.
